Photobiological measurements

complete according to IEC 62471

The JETI spectroradiometers specbos 2501-UV and specbos 1211-UV-2 can be equipped with accessories for measurements of all photobiological measurements in the wavelength range from 200 nm  to 1050 nm (2501-UV) and from 230 to 1000 nm (1211-UV-2), defined by EN 62471.  These accessories have been completely developed according to IEC 62471. All 8 categories of hazardous effects defined in EN 62 471 and ANSI/ IESNA RP-27 can be measured with the system, the only restriction is the measuring range of 200 nm to 1050 nm /230 nm to 1000 nm.

Such measurements are more and more important especially regarding the modern bright LED illumination and the related hazard to people, to the eyes and the skin. Typical measuring objects are spotlights in studios and during events, machines with UV illumination and LED modules.

Highlights

  • Measurement of all 8 hazard categories
  • Configuration for Radiance as well as Irradiance based quantities
  • Special calculation window in software JETI LiVal for values, risk group classification and maximum exposure time
  • NIST traceable calibration
  • Included neutral density filters for extreme intensities

More basic facts of photobiological measurements and the specifics with specbos 1211UV-2 are described in the technical note 26.

There are several special accessories are available for this task

  • Optics for 11 mrad and 100 mrad Radiance measurement with UVOD2 filter (ACC 024 / ACC 080)
  • Mechanical elements for turning/ tilting (ACC 025)
  • Diffusor for Irradiance measurement (Actinic UV and UVA hazard) (ACC 026 / ACC 081)
  • 80° aperture for diffusor (ACC 027)
  • UV filter UG 11 (ACC 021 UG11 / ACC 082 UG11)

Please note:
It is recommended in the standard EN 62471 to proceed photobiological measurements with a double monochromator based system. A spectroradiometer with an array spectrometer as specbos 1211UV-2 can be used only if its applicability is proved! Due to the specifics of photobiological measurements it is recommended to discuss the application with JETI to find the best solution.
